OFFICE VISITS

Office visits with the physician are by appointment only. If you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, please notify our office at least 24 hours in advance. We do see our regular patients on a "call in" basis if there is a problem.

If you are a new patient, please plan for your initial appointment to be longer than subsequent visits. This is to give as much time as possible to obtain all the necessary information about your condition. The physician who has referred you to us will be furnished with a complete written report of our findings.

We encourage you to bring a close relative or friend with you to the office if you feel the need. This often helps in answering questions, lending moral support, etc.

On all visits to our office, please bring ALL your medications. This will allow us to keep your medical information accurate and complete. There are times when there will be blood work or x-rays ordered for you. If we do not call you concerning these results, please assume that these tests were stable for your condition. We will notify you if there is a change in your condition or your medication needs adjustment. The results of your tests will only be given to you to ensure privacy with these matters. No personal information concerning you will be released to anyone without permission.

DIALYSIS TREATMENT

Our Nurse Supervisor schedules patients at each of our facilities. We make every effort to schedule most conveniently for patients. However, please understand that there are times when we will be unable to accomodate the specific time that you may request. If you are a peritoneal dialysis patient, our nurse will notify you for blood work, line changes, etc. In addition, our physicians wish to see each peritoneal patient in the office once a month to ensure optimal care and to discuss in private any necessary topics.

We do allow dialysis patients who are vacationing in our area to dialyze with us. These patients will be screened for hepatitis and any other communicable diseases. In addition, there is a nurse available to assist our patients in arranging dialysis at other units during their vacation.
